Voronezh State Medical University is one of the oldest educational Universities of Russia. Its history is connected withthe events of the year of 1801, when the north-west of the Russian Empire in the city of Yuryev (German Dorpat), today’s Tartu, Estonia, by the decree of Tsar Alexander the First, University was founded. In 1918, due to the events of the 1st World War, the University of Yuryev moved to Voronezh. In its structure, there was also a Faculty of Medicine. The University is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools 9th Edition published by the World Health Organization.
In 1992 the international faculty of medical education and the faculty of pre-university training were introduced. As a recognition of it’s Accademic excellence and being one of largest scientific-educational & medical diagnostic centers in Russia, the ministry of education awarded the academy status and the institute was renamed as Voronezh state medical University in 1994.
In the same year, the faculty of advance nursing was established Having an intercollegiate status in previous years the pharmaceutical department has developed its own academic curriculum and became an independent faculty since 2002. During the time of its existence the Faculty prepared more than 40,000 doctors, among them 1200 foreign medical specialists from different countries.
The teaching is provided by 345 faculty members, among those there are 46 Doctors of Medical Science, 190 Ph.D.s in Medicine, 40 Professors and 57 Associate Professors. The University maintains contractual relation- ships with a great number of European higher educational institutions, such as the Medical Facultyof Hum-boidt University/Charite University Medicine of Berlin (Germany), Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz Luther University of Halle- Wittenberg (Germany) Chukurova University, Adana (Turkey) and etc.

As per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 1997, of the Medical Council of India , the minimum qualification for the Indian
student for admission to any Foreign Medical Institution it as follows :
1. He/she shall complete the age of 17 yr on or before the 31st of Dec. of the year of admission to MBBS course. 2.
He/she must have passed in 10+2 or equivalent examination in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Biology and English individually and
must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination as
mentioned in clause (2) of regulation 4.
The cost of living in Russia for an Indian Student varies from city to city. There is no limit on the number of attempts in the screening test. A sincere student will pass the screening test in the first attempt. It is a Qualifying test similar to class 12 tests. It is Not an Elimination test such as PMT.
